I hadn't played remotely serious Chess for a few of years when I joined Team: Current Affairs for Teamleague 36 on the Free Internet Chess Server. It will surprise no one that the skills required to play standard rated games at 45 45 time controls are a little different from those required to bash out unrated blitz games at 2 12. I used to be able to do it playing at the 1900+ level... the outcome of TL36 was 1 win from 6 games and a just reassessment of my rating to 1750.
The TL37 season (maybe...) starts in October, which gives me 3 months to address the shortcomings in my game. What can I achieve in that time? This blog will monitor my 100 days to Chess improvement.
